Geof’s New Music: 29 Jun – 5 Jul 2008
Oi, well, it’s been a while, and I haven’t even listened to everything I had queued back in May, thanks to hard drive problems. I’ll get back on the horse with two new studio albums:
And later … I decided to come back and work on the unrated backlog.
Death Cab for Cutie’s Narrow Stairs.
7 May 1999 [Chicago, IL, USA] concert bootleg of Wilco. A solid little show from Wilco’s hometown. Not my favorite Wilco era, but it’s enjoyable. Three stars.- 3 Nov 2004 [Portland, OR, USA] concert bootleg of The Delgados. Absolutely fantastic. Four stars.
4 Nov 2005 [Dayton, OH, USA] concert bootleg of Over the Rhine. While the recording of the next night’s show was just fantastic, this is merely above-average. Three stars.- 28 Sep 2006 [Santa Monica, CA, USA] concert bootleg of M. Ward. M. Ward + KCRW = teh awesome. Four stars.
3 May 2008 [Nashville, TN, USA] concert bootleg of Derek Webb and Sandra McCracken. I was using my backup equipment [my Tascam DR-1, with just its built-in mics] that night, but it still sounds half-decent. Three-and-a-half stars.- 5 May 2008 [Missoula, MT, USA] concert bootleg of Wilco. Very echo-y and distant. Not up to snuff for a 2008-era Wilco recording. Two-and-a-half stars.
