iPhone Functionality That I Want

While I’m on a roll:

When I create an appointment in iCal, why can’t the Location be an actual location in the Contacts database [or, maybe, a phone number for a teleconference]? Why do I have to type that in every time? I do a lot of teleconferences and a lot of meetings, quite often in the same places. I’d like to be able to put those TC numbers and meeting places in as contacts, just to save me lots of pecking.

Also, for something like a lunch meeting [since I met with some of the locals for lunch today], how about letting me specify the restaurant as a Contact, and then hooking that up with maps? Imagine this sequence:

iCal Alarm reminds you of lunch meeting
You punch up the meeting
You hit Maps
Maps tells you where you are and how to get there

That this functionality hasn’t come along at this point is honestly quite baffling to me. All the pieces are there, waiting to be loosely joined—because in Maps, if you search for a place [say, a restaurant], you can add it as a contact. And then BAM! You’ve got ‘er saved. I do this with a lot of places I frequent regularly now, even though I know how to get most every place, not so much for me as for others. Need to show someone how to get somewhere from where you’ve met for lunch? Find the address in Maps, then use the Contact info to seal the deal.

C’mon, Apple … that would be me, showing off the bad-assedness of your product with some simple software hooks.
