Well, because of all the craziness I went through the last couple of weeks, I didn’t break out anything new last week. Part of that is because I also have a paucity of new-to-me studio releases to add. I guess I was spending my money on recording gear and not records. In honor of that, this week’s new music is heavy with recordings made by my own hand.

Here’s what I spent a couple weeks enjoying:

• Derek Webb and Sandra McCracken’s Ampersand EP. I’m really happy that this exists, and I want more. Four stars.
  
• Led Zeppelin’s Presence. Yeah, at this point, they were on the way down. Three stars.
  
• 1 Dec 1992 [Frankfurt, Germany] concert bootleg of Uncle Tupelo. Pretty average. Two-and-a-half stars.
• 25 Jul 2004 [San Diego, CA, USA] concert bootleg of The Weepies. Sadly, it’s neither tracked well [put your stage banters in their own tracks, please!] nor recorded well. Two-and-a-half stars.
• 9 Jan 2008 [Nashville, TN, USA] concert bootleg of Derek Webb. Two-and-a-half stars. I guess I suffer from DW bootleg fatigue.
  
• 9 Jan 2008 [Nashville, TN, USA] concert bootleg of Sandra McCracken. Three stars for this one; solid sound for a $10 mic.
  
• 15 Feb 2008 [Chicago, IL, USA] concert bootleg of Wilco. Omnidirectional microphones + balcony seating + no bass roll-off = two stars. I’m used to so much better, and I think I’ll be scouring for another recording of this show online.
