Home … After a Blowout
“Your Nissan is really going to hate you.” — Chris, after I told him the trip I had planned.
He was right. I was just 15-20 miles from home when the right front blew on my truck. Someone had absconded with my spare [again! ... time to take action], so I had to call a wrecker. Thankfully, I found one 1) in my area and 2) going my way, so I was towed into Huntsville, where I got four new tires. [I was close on needing new ones, but they looked okay before I left on the trip. I was planning for this trip to be their end-of-life. Heh.] I’ll start calling about a spare tomorrow at the town junkyards.
The total mileage was something over 1070 miles, not counting the 10 miles or so of the tow.
Pardon me, but I need a really long shower and a beer…

Young Grasshopper, you need to use my compressor every time you come to visit. (I think I see a Birthday or Christmas present in this, so you won’t have to use mine.) Keep the pressure on all four tires the same and between 40 and 45 psi. Your tires will last longer, run cooler, have better traction and, yes, jar the fillings in your teeth. But if you check them on a set schedule they will work better.
No charge!

June 6th, 2006 at 21:20I noticed mine are starting to wear a little thin. Luckily I’m not planning any huge trips soon. I’m definitely going to have to replace them before fall travel starts.
I wonder if I can write them off since my vehicle will be used for business purposes…
