“No, we don’t want anyone to know about us … at all.”

Looks like the band Flagrant—no idea who the heck they are, or where they’re from, or what they play … nor do I care to know—has decided that they don’t want their music indexed by MusicBrainz. That’s awful dumb.

The MB guys are taking it well: “It was bound to happen… Even though I attempted to appeal to them to reconsider their decision, they did not. Nor did they provide any reason for this. So be it…” is their reaction. Still, why? Mayhem and Chaos, in a comment, nail it:

Legally speaking, they have no basis for doing this, since all we do are index facts, which are not copyrightable. We could index whatever we want, but since we want to play nice, we’ll go along with it.

Why would you not want people to know about your band? It boggles the mind.
