I was planning to get back to my bootleg backlog this week—and I have—but I was pleasantly surprised to get two discs this week. Echoing Rick’s comment last week about the joy of pre-ordered music, I got two CDs I didn’t expect at all: one from my subscription process to No Depression, and the other being Over the Rhine’s first in a series of yearly live CDs. Awesome.
- Tom Brosseau’s What I Mean to Say Is Goodbye is what I got from ND.
- Over the Rhine’s Live from Nowhere: Volume One.
- 29 Feb 1992 [Boston, MA, USA] concert bootleg of Uncle Tupelo.
- 10 Sep 1998 [Seattle, WA, USA] concert bootleg of Elliott Smith.
- 22 Oct 2005 [Rio de Janeiro, BR] concert bootleg of Arcade Fire. Almost unlistenable, and I don’t know any of their stuff. I only grabbed it because it was on the same torrent as …
- 22 Oct 2005 [Rio de Janeiro, BR] concert bootleg of Wilco. The torrent where I grabbed this is dead, but I’ll re-seed it on DIME or ViaChicago if there’s a request to do so.
- 17 Nov 2005 [New York, NY, USA] concert bootleg of Jeff Tweedy. As with the Wilco, the torrent where I grabbed this is dead, but I’ll reseed upon request.
Last week was devoted to Andrew Peterson’s Appendix A: Bootlegs & B-Sides. This is a great disc: the live cuts are spectacular, and a couple of the demos are great as well. This is a must-own if you’re an AP fan.
Can I just say, over and over, HOW much I am loving Appendix A? SO GOOD. (and for some reason you were left off my bloglines… you’re there now. i am complete.)
You can. You may.
This Weblog should never make anyone’s life complete, however.
