I’m on a music-buying hiatus [I've been spending too much on computer parts; please don't ask how much :sigh:], so I’m processing all the bootlegs:
- 16 Oct 1970 [Philadelphia, PA, USA] concert bootleg of Derek and the Dominoes.
- 20 Mar 1991 [St. Louis, MO, USA] concert bootleg of Uncle Tupelo.
- 30 Jul 1993 [St. Louis, MO, USA] concert bootleg of Coffee Creek.
- 26 Mar 1996 [Hollywood, CA, USA] concert bootleg of Son Volt.
- 28 Jun 1998 [San Jose, CA, USA] concert bootleg of Wilco.
- 13 Feb 2004 [Orlando, FL, USA] concert bootleg of Modest Mouse.
- 5 Nov 2005 [Madison, WI, USA] concert bootleg of Jeff Tweedy.
I’ve actually already processed and listened to every last one of ‘em. I’ll rate ‘em next week, but the only show I wouldn’t tell you to go after is the Wilco boot.
Last week was bootleg-riffic as well:
- 24 Feb 1991 [Boston, MA, USA] concert bootleg of Uncle Tupelo. This got four stars from me; it’s a recording of a studio appearance, and it just lacks the energy I’ve come to expect from UT boots.
- 11 Jun 1992 [St. Louis, MO, USA] concert bootleg of Coffee Creek. This gets four-and-a-half stars from me. A great, great set. Its’ made me want to buy Bottle Rockets records just to hear more of Brian Henneman’s vocal stylings. Sad, but true!
- 12 Aug 1998 [Hoboken, NJ, USA] concert bootleg of Elliott Smith. Three-and-a-half stars. There just wasn’t a ton of energy in this show. Sad, because Elliott sounded good, but his energy sagged.
- 5 Mar 2005 [Chicago, IL, USA] concert bootleg of Jeff Tweedy. A solid four-and-a-half stars. There isn’t a track that got less than four stars from me.
Geof, any chance you can burn some of those boots for a fellow guy that missed out on the Wilco Nashville show?
I’ll send blank disc and postage!
Sure, but you could grab the 17 Mar 2006 Wilco show in Nashville on ViaChicago and get it far faster than I could get it to you. You could probably have it tonight!
