This week has been kicking my ass! I’m way late on getting to this. Here’s the new stuff, all bootlegs:
- 1991-02-16 [Columbia, MO, USA] concert bootleg of Uncle Tupelo.
- 1992 Demos of Beck.
- 1996-03-06 [Columbus, OH, USA] concert bootleg of Elliott Smith.
- 1997-02-15 [New York, NY, USA] concert bootleg of Wilco.
- 1999-07-25 [Chicago, IL, USA] concert bootleg of Jeff Tweedy.
- 2003-07-23 [Athens, GA, USA] concert bootleg of Modest Mouse.
Last week was half-and-half albums and bootlegs:
- Beck’s Mutations gets four stars from me.
- Beck’s Odelay also gets four stars, and just missed four-and-a-half.
- 89/93: An Anthology of Uncle Tupelo gets four-and-a-half stars from me. I really wish I’d seen UT live back in the day.
- 9 Jul 2005 [Paris, FR] concert bootleg of U2 just didn’t excite me at all. It got three stars. I don’t know whether it’s just because it’s an average audience recording, but … man. It felt like one of those shows where the energy was more in the crowd than with the band. Mind you, that’s awesome if you’re at the show, but … maybe I’m just missing out because I’ve never seen U2.
- 15 May 1997 [London, UK] concert bootleg of Counting Crows was really good. It gets four-and-a-half stars … the last half of the show was all fives. They hit stride with “Mr. Jones” and kept on going.
