I put this off yesterday because I didn’t bring my case full of bootlegs—no, I’m not kidding—in to the office. This morning, I got my BMG order out of the mailbox, so I’m going to put off the bootlegs a while longer and go after the new stuff.
This week, I’m fleshing out my Fountains of Wayne discography:
- Fountains of Wayne’s Fountains of Wayne
- Fountains of Wayne’s Utopia Parkway
- Fountains of Wayne’s Out-of-State Plates
[Mom always said that BMG never would work for me. I have worked for years proving her wrong.]
- Coldplay: Rare and Live Compilation: A bunch of good renditions here. This compilation gets four-and-a-half stars.
- 25 Sep 2001 [Atlanta, GA, USA] concert bootleg of Modest Mouse: This gets a solid four stars from me.
- 16 Nov 2004 [Toronto, ON, CA] concert bootleg of Sufjan Stevens: Oh. My. Gravy. I babbled about this bootleg to anyone who would listen last week. I made MP3s available off of my fileserver for folks on The Rumor Forum. I have Stephen and Misty both a CD of the bootleg and a copy of the processed MP4s [for Misty to dump on her Mac]. Five stars, easily. I get giddy thinking about it.
- 26 Mar 1998 [Chicago, IL, USA] concert bootleg of Jeff Tweedy: This gets four-and-a-half stars from me. Great little bootleg; unfortunately, it got lost in the AWESOMENESS of the Sufjan.
- 15 Aug 1990 [St. Louis, MO, USA] concert bootleg of Uncle Tupelo: A little raucous in the beginning—I think they were a little too drunk at the start; Jay Farrar’s vocals were all over the place—but the end of the show? TIGHT. Four stars.
- Demos from Billy Bragg and Wilco’s Mermaid Avenue project: Mmmmm, Woody Guthrie. The completionist in me needed this. Four stars.
Now to finish processing the FoW so I can listen to it here at the office …
Coldplay, huh?
May I recommend you check out http://www.woxy.com and listen to some *good* music?
 I like what I like, and “good” is almost wholly subjective. I’m not a raging Coldplay fan, and I don’t listen to tons of BritPop. [Quite the opposite ... I listen to tons of alt.country and singer/songwriters.]
