Geof’s New Music: 15-21 Jan 2006
Eagle-eyed IJSM readers will note that I didn’t put out my music log yesterday. Why? Well, I ran out of CD-Rs sometime last week, and I didn’t replenish my supply until last night. [I am owned by the Staples down the road. Let's just not talk about that right now.] CD-Rs in hand, I spent a lot of time last night burning CD-Rs and ripping stuff on my Mac [another entry for another day].
I’m looking forward to:
- 5 Nov 1999 [Cincinnati, OH, USA] bootleg of Wilco. If you think my obsession with Wilco bootlegs is bad, you’ve not seen all the Elliott Smith bootlegs I’ve been grabbing. :chuckle:
- Nickel Creek’s Nickel Creek. I’ve owned this for a couple of years, but I haven’t listened to it since 2004, so it’s quasi-new.
- Nickel Creek’s This Side. Same as above.
- 8 Apr 2005 [Dayton, OH, USA] concert bootleg of Over The Rhine and Kim Taylor freakin’ rocked. Solid four stars out of five here.
- 19 Dec 2005 [Portland, OR, USA] concert bootleg of U2 was pretty good, although I’m sure it was better live. Another four-star effort.
Another week with no progress on Alpha Romeo Tango. That’s mostly because work is crazy.

Since you’re a Nickel Creek fan, too, you might be interested to know that Shawn Mullins‘ new release will have a track that features Chris Thiles on the mandolin.

I mentioned last week that I’d grabbed a bunch of Elliott Smith bootlegs. I’m going to churn through a bunch of them this week, because it’s rainy and cold, and that seems appropriate. [Besides, I’m waiting for Sufjan Stevens…
