Rescue Me Season Three News
I watch my server logs: I know that a lot of Googlers get here wondering about FX’s Rescue Me, a show that I really, really happen to love. Lately, folks seem to wonder: “When is the new season of Rescue Me going to start?” Best as I can tell, we can expect that sometime in the second quarter of 2006—I’d bet on May.
FX recently picked up Rescue Me for a third season, ordering 13 episodes. Production of season three begins early next year and will debut in the second quarter of 2006.
The pickup comes despite the fact that ratings for the show, which stars Denis Leary as a damaged New York firefighter, have been flat this season. Production on the new batch of 13 episodes is scheduled to begin early next year, with a premiere date targeted for spring or early summer.
“Once again, Denis and [co-creator Peter Tolan] have delivered a brilliant season,” says John Landgraf, president and general manager of FX. “They continue to create wholly original storylines which pull off the difficult task of blending riveting drama with raucous comedy. We’re extremely proud of this show, which is one of the very best television has to offer.”

As for the odds of [Gavin sister] Maggie coming back next season, [Tatum] O’Neal says, “I think they’re pretty good. They’ve already told me they’ve written me in. Leary told me, ‘You want to work a day a week for six months, Tate?’ ‘Sure! It’s in New York. My kids are in school. No problem.’ So that’s great.”

I think having Tatum O’Neal as a part of the cast next year would be great. I personally can’t wait for Season Three—I’m expecting that it’ll show up sometime in May or June.
Any idea when season 2 will be out on DVD?

January 27th, 2006 at 10:52As far as I’m concerned, the season 3 will begin in june 2006 just four months away. And as for the complete 2nd season on DVD, your best bet would be that it will be released just weeks before the premiere of the 3rd to help promote the new season. Hope this helps.

January 31st, 2006 at 20:12I am a huge fan, this show is the closest to real life in a firehouse that i have seen on an show, even Ladder 49 was far fetched and unbelievable, lots of mistakes. well can’t wait for the new season.
February 5th, 2006 at 21:29I cannot wait for Rescue Me to start! That show is so great! Denis Leary is by far the funniest, coolest guy on that show. I live in Brooklyn, NY and went to see him live at a comedy festival! He is hysterical! I cannot wait for the new season to start…I thought it was wierd that it was taking this long…I was scared & thought it got cancelled! I’m so happy to hear that it may start in June…I guess I have to wait a few more months!

February 16th, 2006 at 20:25I think they will wait to release season 2 until after season 3 has begun. Why? They will likely re-play season 2 to get people back into it again….just an observation of how they do it.

Kathy: No release date has been announced for the S3 DVD; if Sony Pictures follows their standard practice, they will release the previous season on DVD in May or June of 2007. That’s also when re-runs typically have happened to lead up to the release of the new season [partly to allow new folks to the series to catch up and to allow us addicts to get a fix before the new eps appear].
September 9th, 2006 at 10:02Here in Canada we are just seeing the begining of Season 3.I don’t want to spoil it for myself as there has only been 2 shows but I am soooooooooooaddicted.Always been a Denis Leary fan and this is like icing on a very yummy cake . September 15th, 2006 at 11:07I started watching Rescue in Season Three but not sure where I actually jumped in. It thought they were reruns. The last show I saw was where he was in the house and it blew up. was tht the finale for the season. I have seen nothing after that and then Nip/Tuck started in the same time slot. I think I will need to go get Season 1 and 3 to catch up to what I missed. When will Season 4 start. (I was assumming in the Fall. Was this like a summer show?) I love Denis Leary and I love Rescue Me.

Yes, it’s a summertime show, so chances are that we won’t see S4 episodes in the US until June 2007.

September 18th, 2006 at 18:40Chris: I believe that FX chooses to run it in summer for one of two reasons: the shooting schedule best meets all the actors’ schedules, or FX likes having it in the summertime to run it in one fell sweep, with re-runs at odd times during the week, to garner airtime and advertising dollars at an otherwise slack time of the year.

As I stated in an earlier message above, I had not seen any of the first two seasons of Rescue Me and only caught the last three episodes of Season 3. I became a dedicated fan instantly!
Just wanted to say to others who, like me, didn’t discover Rescue Me until late into season 3 that while channel surfing tonight, I couldn’t believe my good fortune to find that the FX Network had begun airing reruns of the first three episodes of season 3 tonight, beginning at 11:00pm.
Three more episodes are slotted for consecutive viewing next Saturday night (10/14) beginning at 11:00pm and the next 3 episodes will be shown the following Sunday morning
(10/22), beginning at 12:00am. They are resuming the regular schedule of airing a single episode at 10:00pm and 11:00pm on Tuesday night followed by an encore showing on Friday and Sunday beginning Tuesday (10/24).
