Jakob Nielsen’s Top Ten Weblog Design Mistakes

You might think that Jakob Nielsen is a clown, but … the man usually has a point. He discusses what he sees as the top ten Weblog design mistakes, and in reading his points and his explanations, I think they make sense.

For those playing the home game, I violate #1, #3, #7, #8, and #9 to varying degrees.

Of course, it doesn’t sound like he’s writing this for people that really are just keeping a personal record of their life. I’m pretty sure I violate almost all of them (although I do have a picture and a biography), but I don’t think it’s going to be a problem for the purpose I have for my blog.

    Lara,

It really seems he’s targeting the superbloggers; those folks who go beyond the “I washed my dog today and then ate lunch” crowd.

Yeah, people who’re blogging for identity and to make points and direct conversations, instead of those seeking to build a narrative and relationships.
