Anchoredman

Did I somehow miss where Anchorman was supposed to be screamingly funny? I mean, there were some funny bits in there, and I laughed out a loud a couple of times, but … I felt like it was trying too hard most of the time, going for the goofball quotes that people would be using later on with their friends.

And before you jump all over me, this isn’t some “I hate Will Ferrell” thing. I thought Old School was insanely funny.

I thought it was fairly funny, but definitely not the end-all, be-all of funny. Napoleon Dynamite left me in a similar situation… I’d heard a lot of great things about how funny it was, but it just didn’t really sink in for me.

Just caught Miss Congeniality 2. Can I say…eh.

    I second Rick.

    Funny, but not THAT funny.

Anchorman, like Napoleon, was one of those movies that was better the second time around for me. The first time I spent most of the movie being appalled by the drop-kicked dog scene.. Both movies just seemed stupid and immature, but improved when I no longer had high expectations.

Frankly, ’cause I knew it was a complete joke, the dog-punting scene is one of the two times I laughed pretty hard.
