I’m all signed up to take the Graduate Record Examination. [Whew, $115 is pretty steep.] I’ll be headed off to Decatur on the 29th to go see if I can eke out a qualifying score.
I’m so not worried, really. I’ve seen the studies that show that GRE scores strongly correlate to SATs, and well … I did okay on the SAT.
I’m not even going to bother studying up for it—I’m just not that worried about it.

That test is silly (or at least it was when I took it 6 years ago). 6 years!? Yikes.
Good luck! I’ll quiz you.
It’s a bit tougher these days. I would recommend taking one or two of the practice tests to get your mind working in the ways of the test. I improved considerably with each of those that I ran through just because I got a better feel for the test.
Of course, a great score is not necessary since you’re not aiming for fellowships, so…. go have fun.
Good luck!
I only have to get a 1500. Color me not worried.
Worst case, I have to retake the exam and pay $115 for my ego getting in the way. I don’t anticpate that being a problem, though.
I am so so glad I took it before the writing part was instated.
The only test I ever studied for was the drug test I had to take to get employed.
I would recommend studying. I took it last Tuesday. I have a couple of study manuals if you want to flip through them. If nothing else, at least get on the GRE website and look at the essay portion. They have a samples of what they are looking for and how they will rate you. You should have no problem. Math was beyond simplistic. It was challenging thinking that abstractly. Anyway, I am going to be in EM 660 and EM 666 in the fall yo! May see you in there! Oh, and you won’t know your score till they mail it to you. You’ll get the verbal and math part, but you’ll have to wait till your essay is graded to know your actual score. Later yo.
