TS Arlene on Her Way

Storm Track for TS Arlene, 10-Jun-2005, 2200CDT

Tropical storms, besides being not cool enough to be hurricanes, typically have the vast bulk of their wind and rain on northeast quadrant around the low. [That's because the organization of the storm isn't strong enough and so well-defined that the back-side of the hurricane packs much punch.] As you can see from the track above, though, I live to the northeast of the most likely storm track. Given the frontal conditions around here right now, it might come a little east.

All this means is that it’s really gonna rain a whole lot here tomorrow night and probably through Sunday afternoon. Fun times. We could use the rain—we’re anywhere from 6-9″ in rain debt here in the Tennessee Valley.

P.S.: If you don’t know where Huntsville is in Alabama, mentally draw a line from the right vertical of the “N” in “TN”, then come down across the TN-AL state line a hair. We’re maybe 15 miles from the state line.

P.P.S.: I’m still saying “Huntsville”. I own a home in Madison. Madison. Madison. Madison. Feh. [:sigh:]
