Things I Will Not Miss About My Apartment Complex

Tops on the list? Water problems (presumably leaks in the underground piping) cropping up in the middle of the night, forcing Huntsville Utilities to shut off the water at the main. I got up a little bit ago to throw some clothes in the washer, then pulled the knob … nothin’. [minor amount of swearing] I walk into the adjoining hall bathroom and turn on the faucet … nothin’. [:sigh:] I then waited for Leonard or Michelle to wake up so that I could let one of them know; turns out that I got Michelle, who, when I told her, gave me a horrible look of panic … undoubtedly because, of all the things you don’t want to have happen on your first day in your new job, being without water at your place of residence is not one of them.

Could be worse. In my old apartment, I woke up in the middle of the nigth and went downstairs to raid the fridge. As I walked into our kitchen, I had to think to myself if I’d ventured outside in my sleep. My feet were soaking wet. On the way back OUT of the kitchen, I discovered that our hallway had basically become a drainage canal for our waterheater. The carpet was actually not soaked, but standing UNDER nearly 2″ of water. To make matters worse, they said “Oh, we’re sorry, we don’t have any other availible units for you to move in”. Except that, 2 days later, they showed the empty NEXT DOOR (for 3 weeks) apartment to some people, and then introduced the ‘prospective neighbors’ to my roommate.

Suffice it to say, they paid to have us moved into the unit the very next day. And the last 3 months of our lease was free. So, all that to say, sometimes things do work out…when you personally involve a partner of thier management company in the matter. I’ll never recommend that place to anyone, ever.

Well, the best thing about this place is that I’m out in 90 days. :)

    That’s cool.

We’ve been in a house for nearly a year now (time flies!). It’s been nothing short of sweet.
