Stopping Open Proxy Commenters

Matt points to a great concept: stopping comments that come via open proxies.

There are some plugins extant for it … I’m going to take a little time this weekend to try and find a good one to recommend.


Update: I’ve installed LostFocus’s open proxy checking plugin. It’s supposed to filter the comment before it ever gets to the database. For whatever reason, gfmorris.com has been getting hammered by open proxy comment spammers for weeks, so I’ve installed it there and removed all my IPs from my IP Tarpit banlist. I’ll report back after the weekend.
