How to Move a WP Install to a New Server

Last night, I was stumped as to how to move a WordPress installation from one machine to another. Then Alex struck on a wonderfully simple idea: rename wp-config.php. I proceeded to stare at my CRT dumbly for a minute or two while I let that soak in.

There I was, wanting to put a bit to flip in the WP config …

I’ll be moving 50+ WP installs tonight, then moving a handful more early next week. This will be really, really handy.

Thanks, Alex, for coming up with a simple solution.

When my blog is moved, will it smell nicer?

No, but it’ll run a little faster.

    This worked out wonderfully.
