ProFont: A Font for Programmers

Drew McClellan sold me on downloading ProFont, a font designed for programmers. It’s available for Win*, Mac*, and *nix.

I’ll make a switch from Courier New here on my Win* box and see what I think of it.

You might also want to try one of the Proggy fonts, which are really good yet have an unfortunate name. I like Proggy Tiny (slashed zero).

Then there are the bad attempts, such as Oloron Program. Be sure to check out the example of that font used in Perl programming. It’s as if the punctuation is being shouted at you. “if LEFT PAREN DOLLAR SIGN config LEFT BRACKET BACKTICK sort BACKTICK RIGHT BRACKET…”

I tried it for a while, but I’m pretty set on Monaco these days.
