In the past couple of days, I've had reason to consider that I've suddenly been thrust into adulthood.

The Network Rules
It's about using the network.

I have become absolutely enthralled by Over the Rhine in the last week. As I've noted, I have Jeff Holland to thank for this.

Let's talk about how I got to this point with OtR. You know that I babble inces...

Take a Photograph
I'm so tired, I said what I came to say
I don't want to go again,
but just lay here and dream the world away
You can have all that I offered,
but I'm keeping what I must
and it's not that I don't love you
No, it's time I do not ...

No, I've yet to make her listen to it yet. I started to make he listen to "Baby, Don't Worry" as we were leaving the large orange home improvement store Saturday, but then we had to stop for gas, and in general Saturday was just too pretty of a day for that disc.

I dunno ... I think the story of David from "Black Dress" is pretty applicable to every guy. We all do the same stupid stuff. Like Andy says on the pre-release, "I just wondered, 'Did he feel like I would? He knew that it was wrong, but that made it all the more appealing.'"

Ow.

I have been handing copies of this out to a variety of folks. Different songs are going to affect different folks.

Rick, have you made Jess listen to it? ;)

First, let me say thank you for bringing me a copy of this disc. This, as the other discs you've given to me, makes me think, and that is something I really do need to do more of.

To Andrew, if you happen to get over and read this, your music and words are tremendously powerful. Geof first let me listen to 'Coming to Life' and Black Dress took me back to my days of being single... only after a few lines were pointed out to me did I realize that it was written about David and not about me and so many others. With this disc, "Baby, Don't Worry" had the same effect. On one hand, it hit home the point that we're new at this, and it's going to be tough right now, but we do have each other, and that's pretty dern good. On the other hand, it reminded me how much we've been given by God.

I'm still trying to grasp a few of the songs, but overall the disc has been fantastic! Thank you both of you!

Great review, Geof. Thanks for the "behind-the-scenes" on the circumstances behind "I Miss Those Days." Being susceptible to morbid nostalgiasm myself, I appreciate the reminder that what God is doing right now IS the good old days.
