DON’T PANIC!
I have a degree.
Sort of.
You see, at some point this semester, I was to fill out some card saying that, yes, I was coming to commencement. I never got that card, so I never sent it in. They had a spot for me in line, but they didn’t have a degree with my name on it when I got up to the stage. I opened the degree holder and saw a piece of paper that started with the words “DON’T PANIC!” I laughed. And laughed. And laughed.
I’m still laughing.
But I’m done. Really, really done. So yes, I will stop carping about engineering classes now. I’ll find something new and interesting to write about, though, I’m sure.
Tis better than ours. We come, get our degree holder, and then wait 6-8 weeks (or something like that) for them to mail it to us. I didn’t get my last grade posted until today, almost 24 hours after I had graduated and been recognized in front of thousands. There were a couple from my major that I thought shouldn’t be there as there was no way that they had passed some of their classes, but alas two profs collectively let them slide, so they probably will get thir diploma. Oh well. Their first employer will realize just how stupid they are.
And add me to the list of students already.

Oh, sorry, dude … I didn’t realize that you weren’t on there, buddy. I’ll get you on there in a sec.

May 13th, 2002 at 10:42I’m going to go over at lunch and go get mine. I’m sure that it was simply because they didn’t expect me to be walking and were holding my diploma.
Oh well. At least I’m done.

May 13th, 2002 at 23:00Three Years … and Soon, Three More
Hard to believe that it’s been three years since I graduated; three years ago today, I hired in as a full-time, salaried employee at TBE. Come August, I’ll have been at TBE for six years; also come August, I’ll return to UAH to pick…
May 13th, 2005 at 22:18Five Years…
Well, today is Mother’s Day, so it means that UAH will be having commencement. [They’ve been doing this for more than the decade I’ve been associated with the school.] And so I realized this after I cleared out the cobwebs: five yea…
